On Thursday, 10 September, my solo exhibition, The Shape of Absence, will open at MC2gallery in Milan.
This will also mark the opening of their new space. MC2 is returning to Milan with a gallery on Via Maroncelli 7, in the Design District. Vincenzo Maccarone and Claudio Composti, who run the gallery together, have chosen to start the season with my work. I am grateful they did.
MC2gallery, Via Maroncelli 7, Milan.
Opening Thursday 10 September from 18:00.
On view until Sunday 27 September.
Wednesday to Sunday, 15:00–19:00, and by appointment.
The exhibition features three elements: the portrait work I am known for; a group of pieces that have never been exhibited before; and a selection from Henro.
Mantle, Brim and Pearls are new. They have never been hung on a wall before, here or anywhere else. Alongside them are Solace, Revolve, Lune, Speckle,
And Portal. In July, I wrote that I had had Portal on my list for years and kept deciding that the time was not right, but I had finally released it as an edition. I also said that there was more to come. This is what I meant.
Henro leaves the Netherlands.
This is the first time that Henro will been shown outside the Netherlands.
The idea is to properly introduce the series here, and then let it travel. The same works will be exhibited at ArtVerona in October. I will be there as well.
Kage is in the selection and will be displayed in a large format.
Two of the Henro works were sold in June, before the exhibition had even been installed, to two collectors. That means a lot to me.
The book
Copies of Henro, published by 1605 Collective, are available at the gallery for anyone who would like to take the work home in that form.
I will be at the opening in Milan on 10 September. If you are in the city that evening, come and say hello! If you have any questions about the work or its availability, write to the gallery at info@mc2.gallery or reply to this email to contact me directly.
More soon.
